2025 GVJCI Matsuri Fundraiser
- Date & Time: Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Location: Gardena Valley JCI, 1964 W. 162nd St., Gardena, CA 90247 — street parking only.
- Admission: Free for all; fully cashless (accepts credit/debit cards, pre-sale coupons, and scrip)
- Highlights include: Food stalls (Spam musubi, Okinawa andagi, shaved ice), games, bingo, raffle draw, beer garden, community performances (Taiko, dance, koto), martial arts demonstrations, art and craft exhibits, plant sale, and indoor displays like calligraphy, ikebana, tea ceremony, and Japanese language school showcases
Zenshuji Temple 67th Annual Obon Carnival
- Dates: Saturday & Sunday, July 26–27, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
- Location: Zenshuji Soto Mission, Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.
- Admission: Free and open to the public.
- Event features: Bon-odori dance, taiko drumming, tea ceremony demos, folk performances, Shorinji Kempo, raffles, craft and white elephant sales, ikebana displays, and a delicious array of food (takoyaki, chirashi sushi, Okinawa dango, shaved ice, BBQ, homemade treats, beer, and more). Obon memorial services at 1:30 p.m. both days
